Annual Meeting, Luncheon, Program Sunday noon, March 18

Although we have traditionally held our Annual Meeting with a Saturday night dinner, on March 18 we will try something different – an Annual Meeting with a Sunday lunch. As in the past two years, the event will be held at the Sugarloaf Inn.

At this meeting, we will socialize, elect our 2018 officers and board members, and enjoy a program by Laurie Apgar Chandler, the first woman to solo thru-paddle New England’s Northern Forest Canoe Trail.

Laurie’s first book, Upwards, was published in October, 2017. Excerpted from her website is this summary:

In the summer of 2015, at age 53, Laurie Apgar Chandler became the first woman to solo thru-paddle New England’s Northern Forest Canoe Trail. Achieving her improbable dream, to travel 740 miles alone in a small canoe, was by no means certain. Relatively new to wilderness paddling, she encountered challenges, expected and unexpected, that pushed her to the limits of her courage and endurance. Surprisingly, the scariest of these often had a human face. One of the first looks at the country’s longest mapped inland paddling route, this tale weaves faith, nature, and the goodness of people into an inspiring adventure on storied waterways like the Allagash.

Complete details about the Sunday noon luncheon will be in the February newsletter, at which time you will be able to make your reservations. Be sure to mark the event on your 2018 calendar.
