46 CVOA’ers arrived in Stonington on Tuesday, September 18th and gathered at Mike and Jeannette Parker’s house at 5:00 for a BBQ. What a great time we had!!! As always, the great CVOA cooks came through again: The food was wonderful and plentiful. The ocean was occasionally visible! The rain came before the BBQ and then cleared out nicely. Since when does the weather deter this group of outdoor enthusiasts?!
On Tuesday night, the 46 folks were spread throughout Stonington and Deer Isle. Several couples set up their LLBean 6-person tents (for two) in adjoining campsites at Old Quarry Campground, and felt like they should be in an LLBean commercial. Others stayed with local CVOA members. One stayed in her RV in the Allen’s driveway. Others filled the Inn on the Harbor and Boyce’s Motel!! Word is out and about that CVOA / Sugarloafers came to town!
Many thanks to CVOA co-hosts: Bob and Linda Allen, Steve and Shirrin Blaisdell, and Jon and Sharon Hellstedt. Planned activities included sailing, lobster boat rides, golf and overall exploring the island. And there was plenty of poking around in shops and visiting art galleries.

NOTE from Jeannette: “I have an assortment of dishes left behind. Please see me at the CVOA table from 11:00 – 1:00 on Saturday to retrieve yours, or later in the day or on Sunday.[Ed. note: Many thanks to Mike and Jeannette for putting together this wonderful and well attended event. They provided lots of information on where to stay, what to do in the area, and they arranged for special activities. Their lovely home was a great setting for this special gathering.]
